Button up!

Fall is here, but the gentle rays of sun still make me think of summer. Well, you can wear a T-shirt indoors and bring summer to it.
Should you have lovely buttons, here's an easy project to do.

1. The T-shirt.

2. The buttons.
3. Try and visualize how you want to sew the buttons and then start sewing them.

4. Voila! Your new T-shirt, all buttoned up.

DIY - Pendant

Who doesn't like jewelry?!
I've been thinking for a while to make my own. I started lightly, with pendants. Given that I have some beautiful fabrics laying around, not used, I thought about starting with that.
And what's more appropriate than emerald-green velvet?!
What you need for this project:
- fabric, scissors, needle and thread, and a string necklace you can buy from a mercer's shop

1. Since you sew it by hand, you don't need a lot of preparation beforehand. You can either search for inspiration and follow a certain pattern or you can let the fabric guide you while sewing it. For me, it was the latter.
2. This is how it looked like after I had done sewing it.
3. Using that matching thread, I made the hook for the pendant.
4. Ready to be worn.

DIY - Solutions

Sometimes you have to come up with back-up solutions when a pearl-like button goes missing from your blouse. Here's mine.
1. The blouse.
2. The place where the pearl-like button used to be.
3. My solution.
4. I turned the blouse inside out and sewed up the hole with a matching thread.
5. Onto the stitch, I sewed the emerald butterfly button.
6. Ta-da!

Do the dress dance!

I love dresses, even though from time to time I find myself buying more pants. But still... browsing through my dresses, I came over an item I haven't been wearing for two years now. Like in life, a little change may do the trick. Check out what I did and do the same dress dance to one of your beloved items.
1. The dress.
2. The change bearer (bought from a mercer's shop).
3. I pinned the ribbon to the hem of the dress.
4. Then, I sewed it.
5. And voila! A new dress in the town of my dresses.

New kind of T-shirt in town

In search of a challenge? Well, here you go.
1. Grab a T-shirt. Here's mine.
2. Grab your spouse's/ boyfriend's old shirt. Here's his :).
3. Cut the sleeves.
4. Pin them tight to the sleeves of the T-shirt and either sew them by hand or by the sewing machine.

5. Do the same thing for the second sleeve.
6. Cut the end of the man's shirt.
7. Sew the hem.

8. Pin it to the end of your T-shirt and then sew it.
9. Because the man's sleeves are far larger for a woman's shirt, I decided not to cut them, but to sew them (by hand) and give them a Bohemian look.

10. The result.
11. And proudly worn by the owner.

DIY - Turn a skirt into a bag

There are no such things as useless items of clothing. I think you already know that by now. Since I hadn't been wearing this skirt for a while now, I decided to give it a make-over and turn it into a bag.
Here it is how it went.
1. The skirt.
2. Some scraps of fabric, laying around.
3. For the bag handles, I cut the fabric into two parts.
4. I folded them and sewed them by using the sewing machine.
5. There they are:
6. Since I wanted to use one of the embroidery stitches from my sewing machine, I did it before sewing on the handles.
7. Then, I folded on the inside the hem of the skirt, and sew it.
8. I pinned the handles to the skirt and sewed them.
9. Because the ends of the bag were too pointy, I sewed them by hand.

10. And the bag.
11. Mix and match.
